Oh Hai
I haven't blogged in about three years, but I've got at least three good reasons.
One, my wedding. Two, my move. Three, my job.
The wedding went off without a hitch (except us getting hitched!), we honeymooned in glorious northern California in an apartment above an artist's studio and set up shop back home. Our house is mid century modern plus a beach vibe. I mean, we live in Florida after all. The DH, as he shall be known here, gets me. We make each other laugh daily, divide struggles, and multiply joys. He also knows an alpaca from a llama, built a vanity for our bathroom, and found his way into optics. That and he is truly my rock. We've been through a lot in the past six years and I can't wait to see what happens in the next sixty.
I moved for the first time in awhile but given that I left furniture at the townhouse, it was quite easy. Lots of goodwill trips were taken. The rest has found a home. And let me say it is so gratifying to make your own home after college.
The job. I'm doing research and development, learning new things, realizing that projects rarely go the way you expect, and meeting some awesome folks along the way. I've become known as the knitting engineer - my colleagues now know to ask if I've knit the shawl / sweater / etc that I'm wearing.
Oh, and my Honda died. I am back in a Mazda (the redesigned 6, model year 2014). Made in Japan, no alliance with Ford - a vast improvement as far as I am concerned. Her name is Blue Steel, and she's blue! I got to pick the color. It's the first new car I've ever bought, and now I realize why my father wanted me to have this experience. No bumper stickers this time around. But I am considering a front license plate with the characters for "kofuku", meaning happiness, bliss.
So now I go to tink back a row on my newest shawl on this rainy Friday night. I am grateful. I am happy.
